Heineken Regatta Curacao 2010

The third edition of the Heineken Regatta Curacao has been taken place on 12, 13 and 14 November.

I flew on Friday afternoon to Curacao. 

On Saterday we had to be quite earlie at the parking lot in the centre of Willemstad for the skippers meeting.

Then it started to thunder and lightning so we where on hold as far to dangerous to go out. Good time to socialize a bit with the other sailors. 

At 11.00 we had the first start. I was bit confused at the start but was sailng quite good.

This year not in the formula class but in the open class/ course racing with the RSX board. Overall I finished 2nd and in my catagory I was far before the others so I decided to do two rounds as a training. The rest of the day we didn't sail anymore as there was to muchs rain, thunderstorm and not enough wind.

In the evening I went to Shaggy as he was giving a concert.

Day 2: Again waking up earlie and after the going out the night before it was not so easy to stand up, but after a breakfast I was ready for the races.

At the event side they told us the skippers meeting will take place at 10.00 and first possible start at 10.30 hour so I had some time to do some other things.

At 10.30 I was ready at the start  and this time I was right on the line. From then nobody could catch up with me as the wind was 7-10 knots and with the RSX board I was slow but going and managed to get in 24 min back to the finsh. So again i did two rounds instead of one. 

Second race started at 14.00 hour and was very easy to be first overall of all classes even before the formula and the 18+ who started 5 minutes before us.

So for me it was a nice weekend with special a good training for me on the RSX board, playing with the equipment, the little waves, the other sailors or boats. So with two pullets and yesterday one I was quite happy with my Results. I also noticed how muchs I learned this past summer in course racing...
